Termite Inspections

Inspecting your existing home

Termites are a worry to every homeowner and often go undetected until extensive damage is already done!

Whether termites have been eating away at your deck, fence, kitchen or bathroom, we will get rid of them.

Early detection in your home and garden is very important. It is recommended that regular and thorough inspections of your property be carried out every twelve (12) months to locate any signs of infestation.

DAP technicians will examine your home inside and out, including your windows and plumbing, sub-floor, roof, garage and fences around your entire property. Anywhere termite colonies may be establishing around your home.

Our technicians are well equipped with the latest technology including moisture meters to help them find termite infestation without physically damaging building structures. Our technicians can diagnose any termite infestation issues and prepare a comprehensive termite treatment program to suit your home.

If our technicians discover a termite problem during a visual inspection, they will recommend the most effective treatment method, customised to meet your home’s specific needs, as well as refer you (if appropriate) to a builder for advice about repairs that may be required to any damaged areas of your property.

Pre-purchase pest inspections

Purchasing a home is one of the biggest investments most people ever make, so it is very important that you know exactly what you are buying.  A pre-purchase pest inspection will identify areas under timber pest attack and conditions conducive to timber pest attack, meaning you can make an informed decision about whether or not to proceed with the property purchase.

A pre-purchase pest inspection is a thorough inspection of all timber inside and outside of a home or building being purchased.  It is normally completed within a certain time period (commonly 3-5 days), and should be completed before a contract of sale for the property becomes unconditional.

A pre-purchase pest inspection identifies timber pests that are present in a structure or surrounding grounds (usually within the fence line or up to 30 metres from the main structure).

A detailed inspection consists of;

  •  Tap testing along skirting boards, door frames and window sills.
  •  Using a moisture reader to check moisture levels in the wall cavities.
  •  Checking visual points of entry around the perimeter of the dwelling.
  •  Checking new and existing landscaping, e.g. trees, retaining walls,
      garden beds and fences.

An inspection will assess the following:

  •  Evidence of timber pests and severity of damage caused
  •  Significant wood decay or fungi discovered.
  •  Assessment of sub-floor ventilation.
  •  Areas or situations that appear to be conducive or attractive to
subterranean termite infestation. i.e. leaking plumbing of air-con etc.
  •  Remedial and protective measures required
(including a quote for recommended treatment).

What about my building inspection?

Here at DAP Pest Control we only complete pest inspections (because we are pest specialists), however we work with and can recommend a local builder to complete your building inspection.

The advantage of having separate pest and building inspections

By having separate pest and building inspections completed you have two inspectors on site each inspecting the property for problems within their level of expertise.  A building inspector examines the property and comments on structural damage, conditions conducive to structural damage, as well as any defects in the condition of secondary and finishing elements to the property.

A pest inspector on the other hand examines the property and comments on timber pest damage. Because DAP Pest Control pest technicians complete termite treatments on a very regular basis, we are able to supply a quote to complete any recommended treatments.  This means that prior to purchasing the property you will have a full understanding of the costs and process involved to eradicate and protect the home from timber pests.
